Jewelry Care

Wear and Storage

AnneHJewelry recommends removing your jewellery before going to bed, washing your hands, bathing or showering, and carrying out strenuous physical activities such as sports, cleaning, gardening, etc. These activities may cause unnecessary wear and tear to your jewellery.

Gold and Silver Surfaces

Gold and silver are malleable precious metals. Over time, they will naturally develop a patina, which adds character and beauty to the jewellery and tells its story. However, jewellery can be professionally polished if desired.

Silver

Silver will naturally tarnish and/or oxidise over time. This is unavoidable and is a natural process and therefore is not considered grounds for a complaint or warranty claim.

To preserve the bright surface, we recommend storing your silver jewellery in a sealed plastic or fabric pouch when it is not being worn, to limit its exposure to oxygen.

Rhodium Plating

Rhodium plating is a surface treatment primarily applied to white-gold jewellery to give the gold a brighter, whiter appearance.

Rhodium plating is a durable surface treatment, but it will gradually wear away over time, causing the jewellery to appear greyer. Rhodium plating can also be black. It is possible to have the jewellery rhodium-plated again.

Diamonds

Diamonds are said to be the hardest gemstones on Earth. Although this is true, diamonds must still be treated with care to prevent damage or breakage.

Avoid direct impacts to the diamond and pressure against the stone’s setting, as this may damage the stone. We also recommend having jewellery set with diamonds inspected once a year, both to have it professionally cleaned and to ensure that the setting is still holding the diamond securely.

When a diamond loses its sparkle, it will most likely need cleaning. Contact us, or clean it at home by mixing lukewarm water with a small amount of washing-up liquid and gently scrubbing the jewellery with a soft toothbrush. This will remove most dirt and grease from the diamond and restore its sparkle.

Gemstones

Gemstones must be treated with care. Unlike diamonds, their surfaces may gradually become worn and appear duller over time.

Avoid direct impacts to the gemstone and pressure against the stone’s setting, as this may damage the stone. You should also avoid wearing gemstone jewellery during strenuous physical activities such as sports, cleaning, gardening, etc., as these activities may cause unnecessary wear to the gemstone or gemstones.

We recommend having jewellery set with gemstones inspected once a year, both to have it professionally cleaned and to ensure that the setting is still holding the stone securely.

Pearls and Coral

Pearls are small miracles of nature, formed inside an oyster beneath the sea.

Pearls cannot withstand hard impacts, perfume, creams, soap or other chemicals. Exposure to these may cause the pearl to lose its lustre or even become damaged.

Pearls benefit from moisture and can occasionally be rinsed with water to help them retain it.

Jewellery Cleaning

We recommend having your jewellery professionally cleaned once or twice a year, as dirt and grease will naturally build up and may make the jewellery appear worn.

Please contact us, and we will be happy to clean your jewellery for you. The first cleaning is free of charge. Subsequent cleanings cost DKK 80 per item.
